🔊 🆙 ⏳ 🇩🇪 Tachchen, Musical Friends… today we come to you from DEU via the ATL by way of Sky Blue Sound. How’s that, you say? 👂🏻 It goes like this:

Rob lives in Germany. He wrote a song. A very moving song. He sent me a demo, a protest song of sorts, with a haunting vocal and stark acoustic guitar accompaniment. Dylanesque, dare I say. But then HE said…

“I wish for this song to be NOT a folk song. Make it Sky Blue Sound?”
he asked… 🫠

An old friend and long-running musical spouse has a thought; puts musical words to it; crafts and nurtures it; then…with warm love and great trust, lets loose his young bluebird and watches with wise guiding eyes as it slips the current to make its own way… 🐦 Its own way turns out, is a place called Sky Blue Sound.

Thusly was born “Inside the Hourglass,” a song of risky arrangements treated with washy/plunky discord, all wrapped up in wide, confident vocals. The percussion is both Country and Tribal. I loved the process of making it. I hope y’alls dig it…
